INTERESTED IN POLITICAL CAMPAIGNING?
If you're interested in electoral politics or campaigning, here are some way to get involved:
- Intern for, or talk to, an elected official here in the Bronx, in your hometown, or elsewhere. Let them know of your interest. Ask them how you can get involved;
- Volunteer on a political campaign. Every campaign is always in need of a few more hands. Find a campaign for someone you admire, and offer your time and talents. As you meet campaign professionals, ask them for advice.
- Join a local political club, or join the Young Republicans or Young Democrats.
- Start a political club on campus.
- Get some training. There are campaign training organizations for people of every political stripe. Conservative have the Leadership Institute and the Fieldman School. Progressive Democrats have the 21st Century , Campaign Corps , and Wellstone Action. Emily's List Training and Job placement program for men and women: http://www.emilyslist.org
- Consider getting involved in the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC), a professional organization. Look for info about its Academic Outreach Conference, held each year on a college campus to attract young people hoping to make a career in politics. They can also help you find a mentor.
