PHI ALPHA THETA

Phi Alpha Theta Logo

The international honor society for students in history,  Phi Alpha Theta, was founded at the University of Missouri in 1921, and now has over 800 chapters at colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, and other countries. Manhattan College acquired its chapter, Delta Theta, in 1951.  Phi Alpha Theta recognizes and encourages excellence in history, awarding prizes for student essays and assistance for graduate school programs.  In addition, its annual regional conferences and biennial national conferences provide an opportunity for students and faculty to present papers, describe their research, and discuss career prospects.

To qualify for admission to the Delta Theta chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, students must have completed 12 credits of history with a minimum 3.2 grade point average, and also have an overall cumulative average that places them in the top one-third of their class.
