Japan Exchange and Teaching Program: Have you ever thought about going to Japan for a year? The Japan Exchange and Teaching Program seeks to help enhance internationalization in Japan by promoting mutual understanding between Japan and other nations. United Nations Association of the United States Internships: The United Nations Association of the United States (UNA-USA) awards a variety of part-time and full-time internships to highly motivated students. Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs Internships: The Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs offers internships for undergraduates during the summer and during the year in New York City. Areas include: Human Rights Initiative; Values and Environmental Policy Making; Justice and the World Economy; and Conflict Prevention. The intern’s responsibilities may include research in the various project areas, maintaining and collecting information on foundations and fundraising, editing reports, and administrative duties for seminars and conferences. Women's International League for Peace and Freedom: The PeaceWomen internship offers an intern the opportunity to research and write about women, peace and conflict issues. A large part of the internship position will involve web design and updating information on the PeaceWomen.org website. During the internship an intern will also have the opportunity to attend meetings and panel discussions within the NGO community surrounding the UN. Everett Public Service Internship Program: The Everett Foundation provides funding ($230 per week for 10 weeks) for summer internships at more than 58 non-profit organizations in four US cities. All applicants must meet the following qualifications: completed at least two semesters of college education, be a current undergraduate or graduate student attending a United States university, or have just graduated in spring 2005, be available to work full-time for 10-weeks beginning between May 23rd and June 13th, be new to the organization, (you may not serve as an Everett Intern at the same organization more than once), attend all mandatory weekly lectures and events for Everett Interns (Event schedules posted in late spring). Human Rights Watch Internships: Human Rights Watch has a number of internships available in its New York Office. Undergraduate internships are primarily administrative and clerical in nature, but other projects can be assigned as they arise and match the student's interests and abilities, including research, drafting documents, translating, and helping researchers prepare for missions. Internships are unpaid, except for the Everett Public Service Internship, described above.  Academic credit can be arranged as well. For more information, go to

School for Field Studies Internships and Study Abroad: The School for Field Studies (SFS), an international non-profit academic institution, provides environmental education and conducts research through its field-based programs. SFS is committed to providing hands-on, interdisciplinary education, and environmental research in partnership with natural resource dependent communities. Foreign Agricultural Service’s International Internship Program: The Foreign Agricultural Service's International Internship Program provides college students the opportunity to live and work in a paid internship at an American Embassy overseas.  Through work assignments participants learn various aspects of international trade, trade policy, international relations, diplomacy, regional and cultural considerations, etc.  Positions are available in Western Europe, Latin America, and Asia.  The internship is offered every semester and summer for graduate students and upperclassmen (juniors and seniors). Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship:  Sophomores interested in studying international relations at the graduate level can apply for a Department of State THOMAS R. PICKERING FOREIGN AFFAIRS FELLOWSHIP.  This monetary award covers tuition, room and board for junior and senior years in college and first year of graduate study.  Pickering Fellows receive stipends for international and domestic internships with the State Department.

Ronald H. Brown Commercial Service Fellowship: The Department of Commerce's Ronald H. Brown Commercial Service Fellowship gives undergraduates interested in economics and public policy free tuition and room and board for three years of their undergraduate and graduate education. Following graduation from college but before entering graduate school in public policy, fellows work for the Dept. of Commerce, and are appointed to a position overseas for one year following graduation.  www.woodrow.org/public-policy/rb_description.html
