Requirements for a Major in One Foreign Language:

Twenty-four credits above 102. Of these twenty-four credits, no more than 6 may be in the 200 level. 350-351 (Masterworks) is required of all majors and is a prerequisite for all 400-level courses. Of the remaining electives, nine credits must be at the 400 level. A major's program should be carefully conceived in consultation with a faculty advisor. Study abroad is highly recommended.

Requirements for a Major in Education:

30 credits at the 200 level or above. Of these 30 credits, no more than 6 credits at the 200 level or 6 AP credits may be applied to the major.  340 and 341 (Civilization), 350-151 (Masterworks) and 307 (Advanced Grammar) are required of all majors and are a prerequisite for all 400-level courses. Education majors are strongly encouraged to study abroad. Also, they must have a minimum of 12 credits in a second foreign language.

Requirements for a Minor in a Foreign Language:

Minors are required to take 15 credits. These credits must constitute a coherent program of study designed in consultation with the minors advisor and aimed at achieving oral proficiency in the language. Normally, these fifteen credits are exclusive of 101 and 102 and only six credits may be used from the 200 level. 350-351 are highly recommended.
