School of ArtsPsychologyBachelor of Science in Psychology The Bachelor of Science program is primarily designed for students planning doctoral graduate work in psychology or those wishing a more comprehensive exposure to psychology. It prepares students for graduate research, and success in graduate level classes, and covers all the major areas tested by the Graduate Record Exam. Students in this program are encouraged to undertake a research program and make professional presentations or to work with faculty on scholarly articles. About 20% of incoming freshmen select the B. S. Program. For more information about the requirements of this program, see the Undergraduate Catalog Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology The Bachelor of Arts degree is designed for students who plan to find employment immediately after they graduate from college. It provides an excellent general preparation for a masters degree plus a concentration in an applied area of psychology. Concentrations include Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology, and General Psychology (for those who do not wish a concentration). Students in the B. A. program are encouraged to obtain workplace experience through internships sponsored by the colleges and the department. About 80% of incoming freshmen select the B.A. program.
