Options To Satisfy The New CPA Exam Requirement

Commencing August 1, 2009, a candidate applying to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in New York State must have at least a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a total of 150 semester hours in accounting, general business courses, and liberal arts and sciences courses. Manhattan College will provide for the state mandate by offering the three options described for those students who want to work at a certified public accounting firm. Students who intend to work for private companies, government agencies, or not-for-profit organizations, or who plan to teach or go directly to graduate or law school, can still achieve their career goals by completing the regular Manhattan College degree program in accounting, currently 120 credit hours.
