William Merriman, Ed.D.
Welcome to the School of Education. Here at Manhattan, we bring together a professional, caring faculty, the resources of New York, alumni in school districts throughout the tri-state area and a strong reputation to create educators that make a difference in the lives of students. All programs leading to teacher certification are approved by the New York State Education Department and the teacher education program is accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC).
The School of Education works closely with the Schools of Arts and Sciences to develop curricula that will prepare the teachers of the 21st century. We work with students to help them through the maze of state certification requirements and we provide field placements and student teaching opportunities that enable students to explore a variety of educational settings.
Throughout your years at Manhattan you will have opportunities to meet educators, many of them alumni, in the field. These experiences will aid you in your career path and help you determine which specialization to choose.
The School of Education also provides opportunities in Allied Health and radiological and health professions. Again, our New York City location provides numerous opportunities to explore these career fields.
Please feel free to contact me or my staff with any questions you may have. Whether you are thinking about becoming a student or are already on campus, we are here to help.
