Allied Health

Manhattan College offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health.

The Allied Health program offers a broad understanding of health and illness from biological, psychological and sociological perspectives, a solid liberal arts education, and a concentration in either Health Care Administration or Scientific Foundations, which would provide the student with courses useful for an entry-level position in the allied health field or for furthering his/her education beyond the Bachelor's degree.

Course work is designed to develop critical thinking skills and a humanistic approach to health care delivery. An internship experience in the senior year consists of a placement in a setting relevant to the student's chosen area of concentration and career goals.

The program can prepare students for employment in health care administration or human service work in a variety of health care settings.

The program also supplies graduates with the potential to enter graduate programs in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, Health Sciences, Public Health, Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant programs.

The Health Care Administration concentration prepares students for immediate employment in entry-level administrative work in a variety of health care settings, namely, hospitals, nursing homes, community-based health programs, etc. Most students eventually pursue a Master's degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration or Public Administration.

The Scientific Foundations concentration primarily prepares students for immediate enrollment in a Master's degree in Physical Therapy, Public Health, various Health Sciences or Physician Assistant programs.
