Frequently Asked Questions About the Advanced Standing Continuing Education Allied Health B.S. Degree

 

What will my major be when I take the Advanced Standing B.S. degree?

You have already completed your major, which is the technology or profession you have trained in.  In the Advanced Standing program you will take an area of concentration.

What areas of concentration can I take?

You can take Health Care Administration courses, General Science courses, or a Pre-Medical School track.

Can I take the Advanced Standing B.S. degree in the evening hours?

Yes, if you are concentrating in Health Care Administration.  If you are concentrating in Pre-Med or General Science some daytime science classes are required.

Can I take the Advanced Standing B.S. degree as a full-time student?

Yes, many students today are choosing to work part-time and attend college as a full-time student taking a combination of daytime and evening classes and complete the B.S. degree in approximately 2 years.

How long does the Advanced Standing B.S. degree take to complete as a part-time evening student?

It usually takes 3 to 4 years to complete, depending on how you pace yourself taking courses.

How many transfer credits can I get for the hospital-based program I attended?

You can get up to 63 college credits for your hospital-based program depending on the number of academic and clinical hours you completed.  Most students get between 54 and 63 transfer credits.

How many transfer credits can I get for the college-based Associate degree program I attended?

You can get up to 63 transfer credits.

What is the maximum number of the transfer credits I can get towards the Advanced Standing B.S. degree?

63 credits is the maximum number of transfer credits allowed.

How many total credits are required for the Advanced Standing B.S. degree?

It requires a total of 126 credits.

What do I do to apply for the Advanced Standing B.S. degree?

You must mail in the Manhattan College application form to the Admissions Center.  Have all official transcripts sent to Admissions.  ( Hospital-based program applicants must make sure your transcript includes the total number of academic and clinical hours you completed in your program.)
