Student Clubs

ASCD. Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development is an educational organization open to all students. Meetings are held on a regular basis on topics of interest to all education majors.

BEST BUDDIES. Best Buddies is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with mental retardation by providing opportunities for socialization and employment. The club at Manhattan College pairs interested students with an exceptional buddy for informal social activities and companionship. Any student is invited to join but the commitment should be made for a minimum of one year.

COUNCIL FOR EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN. The Council for Exceptional Children is a non-profit membership organization established in 1922 whose goal is the improvement of educational policy, outcomes and lifestyles of over 5 million children with disabilities and 2.5 million children who are gifted. The Manhattan College chapter is a student subdivision whose purpose is to promote understanding and acceptance of exceptional individuals and collegiality between students and professionals. Any student may become a member. There is an annual national fee to join. Members receive professional journals and discounts.

RADIOLOGICAL SCIENCE SOCIETY. The RSS is a co-curricular student club for students majoring in nuclear medicine technology, radiation therapy and the radiological sciences. It is a way for students to socialize together, attend lectures pertinent to the radiological sciences, network with the lectures and learn how to organize and run a club. Usually 2 meetings are held each Semester. Elections of officers are held in the first meeting of the Fall semester. The officers hold office from January in the Spring semester through December of the following Fall semester.

VISTAS. The Journal of the School of Education. Vistas is a student publication which is overseen by a Manhattan College professor. It allows education students to explore topics of interest to their professional goals and includes information about the education honor society.
