About the Program at Manhattan College

Jaspers Abroad
"It's Not Just Academics"

Manhattan College has established and approved off-campus study abroad programs for the educational benefit of our students.  They are designed to give the students a full academic and enriching cultural experience.

Planning plays a big part in making an academic experience abroad successful!  Whether students have decided on a major or not, they should start planning in their freshman year.  Students should infrom their academic advisors as early as orientation if they are contemplating the idea of studying abroad.  Manhattan College's Study Abroad Office encourages any student who is thinking about studying abroad to come and discuss their study abroad options as soon as their interest is sparked.

The study abroad program is open to students who have a general cumulative index of 2.75 (some programs require a 3.0 or above) and have not received any serious disciplinary sanctions.  The student must receive a grade of C or better in their courses abroad in order to receive the earned credits.

There are several study abroad options open to students.  Students can choice to study abroad for a semester, an academic year, a month long summer program or a two-week January intersession Program.

Manhattan College students study abroad in programs offered at universities on all continents.   The college is affiliated with such organizations as AIFS, IES, ISA, (Butler University), Arcadia Univeristy and AustraLearn and works closely with a number of other institutions that offer programs in more than 30 countries.

Students also have the opportunity to study in Manhattan College's Semester in Madrid Program as well as Exchange Programs in Paris, Lyon, Barcelona and Mexico.

Manhattan College is a member of two consortiums, the LaSallian Programs Consortium http://www.lasallianstudyabroad.org and the Lower Hudson Consortium.  Students may participate in these study abroad programs.  Since the Lower Hudson Consortium does not have a website, please contract the Study Abroad Office for further information.

Because of this flexibilty, students can enroll in programs which are best suited to their particular major, minor and interest.

Manhattan College welcomes the opportunity to help our students arrange to study abroad in any country that is safe and not listed as unsafe for tourists on the website of the U.S. Department of State.
