Lasallian Tradition Endowment
$2.5 million
Today, as in the past, presence of the Brothers influences many aspects of College life. No longer in large numbers, the Brothers still serve in a variety of faculty, administrative and College governance positions, including the College presidency and as members of the board of trustees. The Brothers also retain an active involvement in student life. Several live in the student residence halls and occasionally serve as resident directors.

To reaffirm and enhance the College's Lasallian heritage, we are seeking $2.5 million in funds to establish a Lasallian Tradition Endowment. This endowment will provide funding for our new Office of Mission, which opened in 2002. Its purpose is to:

• Continue discussion on ways to enhance the Lasallian character of
the College;

• Maintain the present balance between the Catholic identity of
the College and the religious pluralism of its students, faculty,
administrators and staff;

• Seek out ways to enhance the Catholic character of the College,
especially in its academic programs by continuing to develop
courses in Catholic studies and theology, as well as mining the
riches of the Catholic tradition to enhance other areas of the
curriculum;

• Expand the public and liturgical celebrations of other faiths; encourage
forums for interfaith dialogue as well as religious and
social opportinities for persons of various faiths to better understand
one another;

• Continue to maintain the principle of academic freedom in the
classroom under the stewardship of professionally responible faculty.
