Ceremony
The ceremony is for all those candidates who have completed degree requirements in September ’07, February ’08 and May ’08.
May 18, 2008
- The Baccalaureate Mass @ 10 a.m. – Draddy Gymnasium
- The Commencement Ceremony @ 1 p.m. – Draddy Gymnasium
The Baccalaureate Mass, which is for all students and their guests, will begin at 10 a.m. in the College’s Draddy Gymnasium. All are most welcome and encouraged to attend. Students should wear their caps and gowns for the Mass. Following Mass; a complimentary continental breakfast will be served on the Quadrangle. (Tickets are not necessary for Mass.)
After the Mass, EVERYONE MUST LEAVE THE GYM. The gym will be closed for the set-up of the commencement exercises.
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN THE GYM ON THE CHAIRS - IT WILL BE REMOVED!
The Commencement Ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. in Draddy Gymnasium and is scheduled to conclude by 3 p.m. Immediately following the ceremony, students and their guests will be invited to pick up their diplomas and attend a post-Commencement reception under the tents on the Quadrangle.
DOORS WILL OPEN TO GUESTS AT 12 p.m. FOR THE CEREMONY, PLEASE HAVE YOUR TICKETS READY.
Assembly for Candidates for the Commencement Ceremony
Students will assemble in the following areas by school. All students are required to be in the appropriate area by 12:15 p.m., where you will be instructed to line up in alphabetical order by school.
- School of Arts, De La Salle Hall, Main Floor
- School of Science, Miguel Hall, Main Floor
- School of Engineering, School of Education and School of Business, Smith Auditorium
Tickets
Formal graduation announcements and four guests tickets will be distributed at the student financial services office from April 21 to May 16. The student financial services office, (718) 862-7100, will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The student financial services office will also be open on Wednesday, May 7 and two Thursdays, May 8 and May 15 until 7 p.m. At that time, you will be required to:
- Pay a graduation fee, if you have not already done so and any other outstanding tuition balances.
- Complete the Senior Survey online. The survey can be found at www.manhattan.edu/senior_survey. This will be available starting April 14, 2008. Upon completion, print receipt at the end of the survey.
VERY IMPORTANT: THIS RECEIPT IS PROOF OF COMPLETION OF THE SURVEY. GRADUATION PACKETS WILL NOT BE DISTRIBUTED WITHOUT THIS RECEIPT.
Cap & Gown
Please order your cap and gown directly from the bookstore either by stopping by or calling them at (718) 862-7249 or 862-7784 as soon as possible. Bookstore hours are Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. For your convenience, the bookstore will be open late on Wednesday, May 7 and two Thursdays, May 8 and May 15 until 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Caps and gowns may be picked up from the bookstore beginning the week of April 21.
All graduates will be allowed to keep the commemorative cap, gown and hood.
Photographs for Commencement Entrance Video
Those students, who have not been photographed by Davis studio and would like to be included in the video presentation, are to submit a formal headshot to the office of commencement and special events no later than April 16.
Diploma Information
Immediately following Commencement, students will be asked to report to the following areas in cap and gown to pick up their diplomas. Please note the locations for you school.
- Smith Auditorium: School of Arts, Business, Education and Science
- Draddy Gymnasium: School of Engineering
After you pick up your diplomas, please join your guests at the post Commencement reception for all Schools on the Quadrangle.
Graduation Announcements
The College will issue press releases announcing each student's name and degree received. If you are graduating this year or a recipient of a special honor award but do not wish to have an announcement sent to your local paper, please call College Relations at (718) 862-7232 or e-mail: Scott Silversten. Please provide your name and indicate whether you are an undergraduate, graduate or have completed the ADC program. Please notify College Relations by May 16, 2008. Thank you.
