Office of Human resourcesDENTAL INSURANCEAll full time permanent employees and their dependents* are covered under our dental plans effective the first day of the month following 90 days of employment. Manhattan College offers two (2) types of dental plans. Option 1 – Guardian Traditional PPO Plan (DentalGuard Preferred) With the Guardian PPO Plan, you can visit any dentist of your choice. Dental expenses are covered at a set maximum of $1,000.00 per person per calendar year. Routine examinations, cleaning and x-rays are paid at 100%, not less than six months apart. After an annual deductible the plan pays a percentage (%) toward basic services, i.e. fillings, root canal, extractions, etc., and a percentage (%) toward major services, i.e. crowns, dentures, bridges, etc. Pre-determination of benefits is recommended for charges of $300.00 or more. Option 2 – Guardian Pre-Paid Dental Plan (Managed DentalGuard) With the Pre-Paid Dental Plan, you receive negotiated discounts from Guardian network dentists. You pay fixed copay for each covered service. Out-of-network visits are not covered. Full-time students will be covered until the end of the year in which they attain age 26.
