Tuition Reimbursement - Support Staff

1. All full-time, permanent staff are eligible for tuition remission upon successful completion of probationary period.

2. Employees may enroll as part-time students only and take up to a maximum of nine (9) credits per semester. Courses may not be taken during working hours.

3. Spouse and children who are legal dependents* will receive on half tuition after the employee is employed one year. Spouse and children (legal dependents) will receive full tuition after the employee is employed two years. Tuition remission will be paid for one bachelor's degree only per dependent. No more than 15 credits over the minimum credit requirements for a degree will be allowed.

4. Employees are entitled to the minimum credit requirements for both undergraduate and graduate schools. Spouse is entitled to one degree only - Bachelor's or Master's.

5. Tuition and program fees are paid by the College. All other charges are to be paid by the employee.

6. Courses are subject to cancellation based on minimum paid enrollment.

7. Any course that is being voluntarily repeated will not be paid for by the College.

8. Employee/spouse/children who wish to enroll at Manhattan College must apply for a degree program and must satisfy all requirements of the admissions-Financial Aid Center.

9. Each semester the Tuition Assistance form must be properly completed by  employee/spouse/children and approved in order to enroll at the College. Approvals must be obtained in the following sequence:

  1. Human Resources
  2. Financial Aid
  3. Registrar
  4. Bursar

  The College requires that each year you complete a Financial Aid Form (FAF) or any other form deemed necessary. Financial Aid will provide any assistance necessary to complete this form. A copy of the completed form must be submitted.

10.  After five years of employment and in the case of death or total disability, the College  extends tuition benefits to surviving sons and daughters while they remain dependent on the surviving parent or guardian. Tuition benefits to the surviving spouse will be extended.**

11.  After twenty years of employment and in the event of regular retirement, the College will extend regular tuition benefits to the sons and daughters and spouses of staff members.**

12.  In order to be eligible for tuition benefits, all procedures must be followed. Failure to follow all procedures in a timely fashion may cause the loss of the tuition benefit.

*  Legal dependents are those person who meet the I.R.S. guidelines for financial dependence upon the employees.

** At the discretion of the Vice President for Human Resources and the President a waiver may be granted.
