Online Database Searches

Most areas of research are now covered by indexes and abstracts that can be searched by computer. Such searches generally result in a bibliography of articles on a specific topic. It is also possible to obtain statistical data in business or economics through a computer search.

In addition to the databases available free of charge by means of the library web pages, Manhattan College Library has online access to more than four hundred databases through Dialog Information Services, Inc.

The cost of searching these commercially available databases depends upon which databases are selected, the amount of connect time, and the number and length of the records retrieved. The library bills academic departments for faculty searches and pays for the first $15.00 of student searches.

To request a database search, contact Stacy Pober, Br. Thomas O'Connor or John Gormley via email or phone (718-862-7166). The database searches are usually done by appointment.
