Online Reserves

Please note that faculty must complete a Reserve Request Form for each book title, article, online document, or other item put on reserve. If the form is not completed fully, our staff will have to contact you for the full information, and this will cause delays.

Manhattan College faculty may request online reserves for periodical articles, individual chapters of books, and other non-book print material (such as homework answers, sample tests, assignment sheets, etc.)

The following types of reading materials can be added to our online reserves:
  • Articles from journals, magazines, or newspapers.
  • Individual chapters of books.
  • Tests, homework answers, and other similar material.
  • Course-related documents that are already in electronic format (an example would be a course syllabus produced in Microsoft Word's 'doc' format.)
  • Links to course material in Manhattan College's Blackboard system
  • Links to Internet webpages or other files.
How to submit materials for the e-reserve system
Paper materials (journal articles, homework answers, book chapters, etc.)
You may bring paper copies of the documents to the libraries and the library circulation staff can scan them into the system.
Please complete this form for each item you would like to have scanned into the online system.
Please follow these guidelines for all paper documents intended for online reserves:
  • Use a clean, clear original.   High contrast crisp black/white.
  • Do not "reduce" your original to fit extra pages on each sheet.
  • Use normal 'portrait' format.
  • Enlarge if necessary.   Very small print does not scan well.

Documents that are already in electronic format (syllabus in 'doc' format, an article downloaded from an online database, etc.
Bring the material on a floppy disk or CD to the circulation desk of the library and it can be uploaded into into the system.
