Circulation Policy

A valid ID card from Manhattan College or the College of Mount Saint Vincent is required to borrow materials from the Manhattan College Library.

Overnight reserve materials must be returned the next day, including weekends.

FINES AND OTHER CHARGES
Fines are charged to encourage the prompt return of materials and to ensure their fair distribution to all. Fines are computed from the day the material is due until the day of its return.

Fines for Overdue Materials
$.10 per day with maximum of $20.00 per item for non-reserve materials.
$.25 per hour with maximum of $20.00 per item for overnight reserve materials.
Charges for Lost Materials
$35.00 plus any fine for Hayes Library books.
$45.00 plus any fine for Engineering Library books.


The borrower is responsible for the return of materials and for any fines whether or not an overdue notice has been received.

RENEWALS
Materials may be renewed if no other patron has placed a hold on them. Renewals are not made by telephone or mail.

SEARCHES
If a book is missing in the library, a patron may request that a search be made for it. When the book is found, the patron will be notified.

HOLDS
A patron may request that a book be held at the circulation desk. If the book is charged out, the patron will be notified when it is returned. The book will be held at the circulation desk for one week. Holds may not be placed on reserve materials.

RECALLS
Books charged out to patrons may be recalled before they are due.

OVERDUE NOTICES
Notices regarding overdue items may be sent to a patron's Manhattan College e-mail account. The borrower is responsible for any charges or fees assessed for late or unreturned items whether or not such a notice has been received.

CONFIDENTIALITY
By New York State law, library circulation records are confidential. The name of a patron having a particular item charged out cannot be given to anyone.
