LibraryInterlibrary LendingManhattan College Library offers interlibrary lending services to current faculty and students for materials that are not available in the Manhattan collections. Policies governing these services are set by the American Library Association's National Interlibrary Loan Code. INTERLIBRARY LENDING (ILL)If a referral to a local library is not possible or fails to meet a user's needs, Manhattan College Library can provide for the interlibrary loan of books and/or the purchase of journal article photocopies. Transaction fees may be levied by the lending library. MATERIALS LENTMost libraries will lend materials that ordinarily circulate to their users. Rare books, reference works, theses, and dissertations are not usually lent. Copies of many dissertations are available for purchase from University Microfilms International, Inc. ILL PROCEDURE
All requests for loans or photocopies should be submitted on the Library's interlibrary loan forms. Forms may be obtained at the reference desk, or you can print out the Interlibrary Loan Form for Books or the Interlibrary Loan Form for Periodical Articles. A separate form should be completed for each item requested, and forms can not be submitted electronically. NOTIFICATION AND PICK-UPThe patron will be notified by card through campus or U.S. mail when the material has arrived. The patron is asked to bring the card to the circulation desk in the O'Malley Library, where the material will be available. Loans must be picked up in person, and any charges must be paid at that time. COPYRIGHTCopyright rules require that photocopies be made for "private study, scholarship, or research." Requestors of copies must sign a compliance with "fair use."
