About Founder's Day

On May 15, 1950, Pope Pius XII issued a brief proclaiming St. John Baptist de la Salle "heavenly patron of all teachers of either sex, whether clerical or lay, whether actually engaged in teaching or preparing for this profession." The Holy Father went on to state: "We constitute and proclaim St. John Baptist de la Salle, confessor, principal patron before God of all teachers of youth. ..."

Like many other Lasallian schools around the world, Manhattan College very excitedly celebrated the life and accomplishments of  St. John Baptist de La Salle during the week of April 22 - 28, 2006.

The enthusiasum throughout the campus was priceless as the Manhattan College family came together to remember St. John Baptist de la Salle and to thank our present-day Christian Brothers for their faith, energy and dedication.
