Award-Winning Author And Historian To Discuss The Fall Of The Soviet Union At Manhattan CollegeRIVERDALE, N.Y. – Dr. Stephen F. Cohen, professor of Russian studies and history at New York University, will deliver a lecture at Manhattan College on Wednesday, October 19 at 4:00 p.m. in Smith Auditorium. Dr. Cohen will discuss the collapse of the Soviet Union as part of the College’s annual lecture series on European history. Cohen, who is also professor emeritus at Princeton University, has published numerous books and articles on Soviet history, including the award-winning Bukharin and the Soviet Revolution: A Political Biography, 1888-1938. In addition to his successful academic career, he has worked as a journalist and television commentator on Soviet issues and post-Soviet affairs. Cohen’s lecture will be dedicated to the memory of Brother Casmir Gabriel Costello, longtime professor of history at the College. Br. Costello chaired the history department from 1949 to 1953, and served as dean of the College from 1953 to 1959. The lecture series has been underwritten by one of his many grateful students, Roger Goebel, professor of law and director of the Center on European Union Law at Fordham University.
