Manhattan College Engineering Students Win Scholarships From Prestigious Industry GroupRIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan College electrical engineering students Margery Hines ’09 and Robert Stigliano ’09 have been awarded scholarships from the Association of Old Crows (AOC), a nonprofit professional group that promotes careers in the defense industry. Hines, from Staten Island, N.Y., and Stigliano, from Mineola, N.Y., were each awarded $3,000 toward tuition for the spring 2009 semester. This marks the 19th consecutive year that a Manhattan engineering student has won scholarships in this academic competition, which is open to all computer and electrical engineering students who are residents of New York City, Westchester, Nassau or Suffolk Counties. Only three scholarships were awarded in 2008. A banquet to honor the winners will be held on Friday, Nov. 14 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, N.Y. Dating back to 1989, Manhattan engineering students have won more than $40,000 in scholarships from AOC in competition with some of the finest engineering schools in the metro area. AOC is an international organization with more than 14,000 members and more than 100 corporate participants who are focused on the science and practice of electronic warfare and related disciplines.
