Chemical Engineering Professor Leads
Preparation for Upcoming AIChE Conference

Dr. Nada Marie Assaf-Anid, professor of chemical engineering, has been serving as chair of the programming board of the environmental division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). She has led the scheduling of a record number of sessions, including an exciting program coming up at the Centennial 2008 Annual Meeting on Nov. 16-21 in Philadelphia.

There will be a total of 25 morning and afternoon sessions totaling up to nine papers per session that will encompass a variety of technical and regulatory areas and provide a perspective on the history of the chemical engineering field during the last 100 years. Sessions such as “One Hundred Years of Environmental Law and Policy: Air, Water and Waste?” will attractive leaders throughout the industry.

The division also is co-sponsoring a topical on biofuels with the help of Manhattan College chemical engineering alum John Wilkinson '69, senior engineering advisor in environmental technology at ExxonMobil Research & Engineering, and member of the Petroleum Environmental Research Forum (PERF).

Other topics will include Trace Contaminants in Water, Particulate Matter and Atmospheric Studies, Air Pollution, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Sustainability, The Green of Coal, Carbon Sequestration, and Global Regulation.
