Jasper Open Golf Tournament Postponed to May 17

Jasper Open

Due to Monday’s inclement weather, the 2010 Jasper Open has been postponed to Monday, May 17. We thank all of the friends of the Jasper Open for their continued support and understanding with the change of date. If you’re still interested in joining us for the day’s events, please consider playing golf or attending the evening’s reception. Reunion Weekend 2010

Reunion Weekend 2010 will be held June 4-6. Manhattan College welcomes home our alumni who return to campus to celebrate the 141st Alumni Reunion Weekend. The weekend is highlighted by special receptions for the 25th, 40th, 50th, and 55th anniversary classes, as well as for our young alumni. Staten Island Yankees

Join Manhattan College alumni as the Staten Island Yankees take on the Hudson Valley Renegades on Saturday June 26, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark.  The $25 ticket price includes all-you-can-eat freshly grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, popcorn,  soda and water; air-conditioned suite seating with 12 outdoor stadium seats; a free limited edition Staten Island Yankees cap for each member of Manhattan’s group; and a free game program.  For more information and to register, download the flyer Here.

 

Jersey Shore Luncheon

Alumni and friends living at or visiting the Jersey Shore are invited to attend our annual luncheon hosted by Bill Harkins ’67 at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 16, at the Spring Lake Manor (415 Route 71, Spring Lake, N.J.) The cost per person is $30 and includes a sit-down lunch and complimentary cocktail. For more information and to register, click Here.

 

Saratoga Day at the Races

Make plans to join us for our annual day at the races in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on Friday, July 30 at 1:30 p.m. Sunset racing begins with a 2:45 p.m. post time. The $100 cost per person includes admission to the track, a program and buffet lunch. Join us later in the evening at 7:00 p.m. for a reception hosted by Bill Chandler '70 at the Inn at Saratoga (231 Broadway). Reservations must be made in advance and may be completed online Here.

 

Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival

HVSFManhattan College is offering its alumni the unique chance to experience Shakespeare at his finest at the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival's production of The Taming of the Shrew on August 19 at 7:00 p.m. The $30 ticket includes admission to the performance and a picnic of wine, cheese and sandwiches on the beautiful grounds of Boscobel in Garrison, N.Y., overlooking the Hudson River and West Point. We encourage you to bring your own picnicking items as well. The park opens at 5:00 p.m. (two hours prior to show time). For more information or to register online, click Here. Construction Industry Golf Outing

Save the date for this year's Construction Industry Golf Outing benefitting the Joe Van Etten '57 Civil Engineering Scholarship.  It will be held on Monday, August 2, 2010 at Lake Isle Country Club. For more information on how to get involved in the outing, click Here.

 

Alumni Yankees Game

Join your fellow Jaspers as the New York Yankees take on the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday, August 31 at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $20 and include a complimentary gift to be distributed prior to the game at The Dugout bar (880 River Ave., Bronx, N.Y.). Athletic Hall of Fame Nominations

Did you know that anyone can nominate a Manhattan athlete for our Athletic Hall of Fame? Each year, we seek to induct a broad representation of qualified candidates. We recommend detailed attention when collecting and presenting biographical information to achieve the desired results in this competitive process. Nominations are due by Friday, June 4, 2010. The 2010 induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, Nov. 13 (please note the change of date).

McLeod

The alumni office recently introduced Michael McLeod (pictured, left) as alumni relations officer. Michael joined the alumni office in April and graduated from Manhattan in 2009 with a degree in history. Among his many duties, you can follow Mike's posts on Facebook and Twitter.

 

 

 

Batt

Alumni office volunteer, Br. William Batt, F.S.C., recently celebrated his 60th anniversary as a Brother of Christian Schools. Br. Bill continues to be a valuable asset to the alumni relations office and is congratulated on his service to the Institute.
