President and Provost Highlight Upcoming Year at Faculty Convocation

At the annual Faculty Convocation held on Sept. 1, Brennan O’Donnell, Ph.D., president of Manhattan College, welcomed all of the new faculty members (click here to see a complete list), and also introduced William Clyde, Ph.D., new executive vice president and provost, Richard Satterlee, Ph.D., new vice president of student life, Michael Carey, Ph.D., new dean of students, and Brother James Wallace, new vice president for Mission, to the Manhattan community.

O’Donnell touched on the academic caliber of the new freshmen class and that the students come from all over the world, and that residence occupancy was high.

faculty convocation He also highlighted a few of the College’s recent accomplishments including: TEAC (Teacher Education Accreditation Council) reaccreditation for the school of education; AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accreditation and engineering’s reaccreditation by ABET, Inc., (formerly known as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology); approval of the new M.B.A. program for Manhattan students; new major in art history; DEP recently awarding Manhattan with a grant to support the installation of a modular green roof; the school building leadership program's grant to fund graduate education; and the U.S. News & World Report rankings.

Provost Clyde also spoke on the goal of developing a new strategic plan for the College in the next year and pulling together the Middle States self-study to measure and report on Manhattan’s success. The strategic plan brings a new vision to Manhattan and further commitment to the student body.
