Manhattan Sponsors Student Attendance at
Catholic Social Teaching Seminar

At the end of the spring semester, Patrick McGarry ’11, an English major, attended the Catholic Social Teaching Seminar at the Path to Peace Foundation as a Manhattan College representative. The seminar focused on how Catholic social thought impacts local neighborhoods, as well as the global community as a whole.

McGarry and other students had the opportunity to hear presentations by the Sisters of Life and World Youth Alliance, visit Covenant House, work on the bread line at St. Frances of Assisi Parish and much more to learn the importance of service.

“For me, this experience helped to reaffirm the fact that as Catholics, we are called to a life of service and are required to act on our faith,” McGarry wrote in a letter to Dr. O’Donnell expressing his gratitude for Manhattan sponsoring his attendance.
