Pompey to Represent Guyana at 2010 Commonwealth Games

Aliann Pompey ’99, former Manhattan College track and field athlete, is competing in the Commonwealth Games from Oct. 3-12 in Delhi, India, and will represent her native Guyana.

 A three-time Olympian, Pompey will compete in her specialty, the 400 meters. In addition, she won the gold medal in the event at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England.

In March, Pompey made the final at the World Indoor Championships in Doha, Qatar, where she finished sixth.  She also competed at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico in July winning the silver in the 400 and reaching the final in the 200 meters.
