DESCRIPTION

In the fall, freshmen students in the School of Engineering, and sophomores in the School of Arts, Business, Science and Education are paired with professionals in the field that they are considering for a career. The students meet their mentors at a "meet and greet" event. At this time the mentors and mentees (students) have an opportunity to begin their relationship and discuss when they will meet again. Many choose the mentor's place of work to meet for the first time. At the first meeting they plan the rest of the academic year. Here are some of the activities that have been done so far:

 1. Spend the day shadowing the mentor or other employees
 2. Work on a special project at the company
 3. Attend an employee training meeting
 4. Visit a work site
 5. Attend a professional meeting together
 6. Listen in on company committee meetings
 7. Have lunch together
 8. Tour the company
 9. Participate in professional development workshops

Dates, times and activities are chosen by the mentors and mentees. This program is for the academic year.
