Reminders for New Students
- Check with your insurance carrier to find out whether your
present insurance will continue to be available, particularly if you
are attending school out of state. If you are enrolled with a managed
care company, find out if the network includes providers in the NYC
area.
- Insurance companies may request documentation
that a student over 18 years of age is enrolled full-time in order to
maintain coverage. If this is needed, please call the Registrar’s
office at (718) 862-7914 and staff will assist you.
- It
is recommended that you submit a copy of your health insurance
identification card to Health Services to be maintained with your
records.
Accident & Sickness Insurance Plans Available to Students
- FULL-TIME UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS are automatically enrolled
in the Marshall & Sterling Co. Mandatory Basic Accident Plan (I) at
the time of registration. Note that this is secondary to any insurance that a
student may have and that it only covers accidental injuries. If a student incurs medical expenses
associated with an accident, this must be reported within 30 days of
the accident. Claim forms must be submitted on a timely basis in
order to receive benefits.
- An optional Accident &
Sickness Insurance Plan is offered on a voluntary basis from Marshall
& Sterling Co. Students who do not already have health insurance
are strongly advised to consider enrolling. Please observe the
enrollment deadline.
- FULL-TIME GRADUATE STUDENTS
don't receive insurance coverage at the time of registration. If
desired, they may request the Marshall & Sterling plan on a
voluntary basis.
Enrollment
Brochures and applications are available from Mrs. Pat Crimmins
(718-862-7356) in Memorial Hall, Room 301. Health Services does not handle
insurance enrollment and inquiries.
