Residence Halls & Housing

Manhattan College consists of five uniquely different residence halls to accommodate any living style.

Rooms in general are furnished with a bed and a mattress, chest of drawers, desk, and chair for each occupant. Closet or locker space is also provided. In Overlook Manor and Riverdale, in addition to these furnishings, the apartments have private baths and many have kitchens.

Horan Hall and East Hill Residence -- Suite Style Living

Horan Hall, our largest residence hall with 11 floors, and East Hill, our newest residence hall with 9 floors, have suite-style accommodations, most being two double-occupancy, single-gender rooms that share bath facilities. In some few cases, a three-person room is matched with a two-person room in a suite. Rooms in Horan Hall are carpeted. Both Horan Hall and East Hill have individual, room-controlled air conditioning. Gender-specific suites are mixed on all floors.

Each floor has a common LCD TV lounge, a kitchen for preparing light fare and a coin-operated laundry room. Both residences have recreational lounges and vending machines. Student mailboxes are located on the first floor of each respective residence hall.

Jasper -- Traditional Community Living

Jasper Hall is a coed residence hall. The floors are single sex and have common area bathrooms and shower facilities. Each room has individual air conditioning units. There is a kitchen on the main floor with three microwaves, a sink, and a table and chairs. Laundry facilities contain many washers and dryers for students convenience as well. There are two lounges. The recreational lounge has pool tables, a ping-pong table and vending machines. The main lounge, Jasper Lounge, has a wide-screen television. This lounge is also where the residents gather together for programming events in the building. .

Chrysostom -- Freshman Experience

Chrysostom Hall is a coed double room residence hall for first year students with common bathroom areas and carpeted rooms. It was fully renovated in the summer of 2000. Chrysostom has four lounge areas, three with cable TV service, 2 with kitchen facilities, and one quiet study area, as well as vending machines and laundry areas.

Overlook -- Apartment Style Living

Overlook Hall is located at the corner of West 238th Street and Waldo Avenue, approximately two blocks from the main entrance and guard booth of the campus. Overlook is a student apartment facility with apartments of various sizes housing between two and six residents depending on the number of bedrooms in the apartment unit. Many apartments have full kitchens and some have balconies. Floors house both men and women. The building contains vending machines in the lobby area and laundry  facilities in the basement.
