Our seniors are going places. From the class of 2019, students in the Schools of Education and Health, Engineering, Liberal Arts, O'Malley School of Business and Science have been offered all kinds of opportunities after graduation. Many also have been accepted into advanced degree programs at Manhattan College and other prestigious institutions. These are only some of the students who have accepted full-time employment and other postgraduate opportunities.
Business
Finance major Justin Gray heads to JPMorgan Chase & Co., as Sam Hoagland, also in the O'Malley School of Business, gears up to begin work as a financial consultant for the multinational French insurance firm, AXA. Daniel Hey is a financial analyst and paralegal at the law firm Faruqi and Faruqi LLP.
Education & Health
Allied health major Caroline Kane will pursue a master's in occupational therapy from New York University, as Jordyn DiCostanzo (kinesiology) begins a similar degree program at Iona College. This fall, Emma Kaishian (kinesiology), will work towards a master's degree in public health from Columbia University. This semester, these three students analyzed walking safety near a playground and green space in Yonkers.
Engineering
From the School of Engineering, Alessandra Palmisano (mechanical) and Melissa Shew (chemical) are both headed to industrial energy supplier Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., as chemical engineering majors Samantha Rosado and Samantha Harrigan begin positions at Thermo Systems. Meanwhile, Kim Jelich (chemical) will join the cosmetic giant L'Oréal USA,a global leader in cosmetics, haircare and perfume. Hongbin Xu (mechanical), a valued Student Technology and Resource Specialist (STAR) for the office of Information Technology Services, will pursue a master's in mechanical engineering from Manhattan College. Once he receives his bachelor's in civil engineering, Stavros Kritikos will begin at Schimenti Construction.
Liberal Arts
Jenna Zawislak (philosophy and political science) will head to the University of Maine Law School in the fall, where she'll begin her path to becoming an attorney. After years of teaching yoga and mindfulness to children in the Bronx, David Caiafa (urban studies) is joining the New York City Urban Fellows program, as Vincent Wiedemann (history) begins a Neighborhood 360° Fellowship Program. Madison Richards (art history and communication) will complete an internship with the Guggenheim Foundation this summer before she graduates from the College in December.
Science
Computer science major Chris Woodhouse has been hired by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Ellison Madsen, also computer science, has a job lined up at Booz Allen Hamilton after working as a summer games intern there last summer. Claudia Ramirez, a biology major, is on the pre-medicine track. She'll begin applying to medical schools this coming year, while working as an associate scientist for a pharmaceutical company. Meanwhile, the New York City air quality research he completed this semester provided ample foundation for Kieran Schnur (environmental science), who will begin the environmental engineering master’s degree program this fall at Manhattan College.
