Rachel Bowers ’22 (M.A.) Named Manhattan College’s Graduate Valedictorian

Bowers will graduate with a master’s degree in school counseling.

rachel bowers smiling on campusRachel Bowers ’22 (M.A.), who will graduate in May with a master’s degree in school counseling, is the Graduate Commencement valedictorian in the class of 2022.

Bowers, who served three years as a Lasallian Volunteer, has been the Lasallian Ambassador graduate assistant for the office of Mission, and also a senior staff member in the Residence Life office at Manhattan College.

Bowers served as a Lasallian Volunteer for two years in Tulsa, Oklahoma at San Miguel School of Tulsa. While at her site, she was able to support middle school students and their families by coordinating the academic support program, serving as the full-time physical education teacher, and creating extracurricular opportunities for students, including field trips, retreats, and clubs. 

Bowers then spent a third year as a Lasallian Volunteer in Tucson, Arizona. There, she organized opportunities for students to get involved in helping the local community by coordinating the Lasallian Youth program. In addition, she worked with the vice principal of academics in organizing the school-wide electives program.  

During her time at Manhattan College, Bowers has served as a school counseling intern at two different elementary schools in the Bronx, including P.S. 7, minutes away from campus. 

Bowers earned her bachelor’s degree from Penn State Abington with a major in psychological and social sciences and a minor in human development and family studies.
