Manhattan College Honored at Model U.N. Conference
A delegation of 11 Manhattan College students recently visited Washington, D.C., to represent the United States at the National Model United Nations - D.C. Conference, which ran from Nov. 2-4 on the campus of The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
The Manhattan College students represented the United States on issues, such as the use of torture, safe motherhood and family planning, illicit arms sales, debt relief and international trade, and HIV/AIDS prevention. They also took part in a Security Council crisis simulation of a Turkish invasion of Iraq during the intense three-day conference.
For its efforts, the Manhattan team was honored with a Distinguished Delegation Award, one of only six performance awards given at the conference, which included participants from more than 40 colleges and universities from the United States and as far away as China and Nigeria.
