Hoops Squads Enter MAAC Tournament

Basketball

The Manhattan College men’s basketball team begins its quest for a MAAC championship in Albany, N.Y., on Saturday, March 7, when the fourth-seeded Jaspers battle No. 5 Fairfield in a 2:30 p.m. quarterfinal match-up. The Jaspers have won six of their last eight games entering the league tournament, including a dramatic one-point victory over the Stags on Feb. 27. For more basketball news, click Here.

 

 

 

Baseball Team Picked To Finish Third By Baseball America

Manhattan College was selected to finish third in the MAAC for the 2009 campaign, according to Baseball America’s college preview issue. Jasper outfielders Kevin Nieto ’10 and Mark Onorati ’11, third baseman Chad Salem ’11 and lefty pitcher Dan Forman ’11 were named to the Preseason All-Conference Team. Read. Softball’s Danielle Just ’09 Named Preseason All-MAAC

Just

For the third consecutive season, Manhattan College softball player Danielle Just ’09 has been selected to the MAAC Preseason All-Conference Team. Just has earned a place on the All-MAAC First Team in each of her first three seasons.  Last year she led the Lady Jaspers with three home runs and tied for the team lead with 12 RBIs, while finishing second on the squad in runs (13), and third in batting average (.264) and hits (28). Three Manhattan Swimming Records Fall at MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships

Three Manhattan College swimmers broke school records on the final day of the MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships held Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Mangione Aquatics Center at Loyola College in Baltimore.  Bridget Latino ’12 broke the 200-yard butterfly record in the morning and then broke it again in the evening. In addition, Catherine Chan ’10 broke the 100-yeard freestyle school mark and Matt Kaftanski ’10 established a new record in the 200 backstroke. Read.
