Faculty and Staff Accomplishments

Jeff Cherubini, Ph.D., associate professor of physical education and human performance, and Tedd Keating, Ph.D., associate professor of physical education and human performance, were appointed to the Executive Board of the Greater New York Regional Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

Ricardo A. Dello Buono, Ph.D., chair of the sociology department, authored a chapter entitled “Los Protagonistas del Cambio Social en El Nuevo Contexto Latinoamericano,” [Social Change Protagonists in the New Latin American Context] in Movimientos Sociales y Derechos Humanos en la Argentina (Brenda Pereyra and Pablo Vommaro, eds., Ediciones Ciccus, Buenos Aires, 2010).

Ricardo A. Dello Buono, Ph.D., was also recently selected to participate in the Collegium 2011, Summer Colloquy on Faith and Intellectual Life, which will take place from June 17-24 at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass.

Thom Gencarelli, Ph.D., associate professor of communication and chair of the department, was invited as featured speaker to a national workshop on General Semantics for a Digital Age at the Balvant Parekh Centre for General Semantics and Other Human Sciences in Baroda, India, Jan. 19-21. In addition to giving the keynote speech (which they refer to as a public lecture), Gencarelli gave two other talks and conducted a workshop with faculty and students from departments of English, humanities and social sciences, and communication at colleges and universities across India.

Shawn Ladda, Ed.M. and Ed.D., professor of physical education and human performance, will conduct a Kinesiology Colloquium entitled, What is our Herstory? on Feb. 18 at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Zella E. Moore, Psy.D., assistant professor of psychology, published her second book in 2007, entitled The Psychology of Enhancing Human Performance: The Mindfulness-Acceptance-Commitment (MAC) Approach. In 2009, the publishers determined that there was a demand for the text among Korean psychologists and in 2010, the text was subsequently translated and republished in Korean.

Philip Pritchard, Ph.D., professor of mechanical engineering, published the eighth edition of his book Fox and McDonald's Introduction to Fluid Mechanics in November 2010, and the book is the number two best-seller nationwide in the area of fluid mechanics.
