Manhattan University Professor Receives Prestigious Award from the National Model UN Conference
Manhattan University announced that Pamela Chasek, Ph.D., a Professor of Political Science in the Kakos School of Arts and Sciences, has been awarded the prestigious Judy K. Eaton Service Award for 2026. This award was established in 2021 by the National Model UN Board of Directors and named in memory the longest-serving volunteer at the Conference. Eaton, who passed away in December 2020, worked behind-the-scenes at the conference, making her rounds as “Ambassador Mom”. The award in her memory recognizes others who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the Conference over time.
Dr. Chasek is currently in her 30th year as faculty advisor to Manhattan University’s Model UN team, preparing students to participate in two conferences a year. This spring’s group of students, who represented the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, earned an Honorable Mention award at the multi-day-long Conference held in midtown Manhattan earlier this month. The delegation of 20 students had majors in political science, international studies, psychology, history, environmental studies, and communication.
Chasek has twice served on the Conference Board assisting in the strategic planning process and has served on various advisory groups responsible for approving the committees and topics that guide the students’ work at the Conference and lining up guest speakers. Referencing the Eaton Service Award she stated, “Judy was such a positive force in making the Conference so professional and was incredibly helpful to all; I am indeed honored to receive this award named for her and look forward to continuing my long association with the Model UN Conference.”
