Manhattan College, CCNY and Columbia
Work to Develop Engines Powered by Vegetable Oil

Manhattan College students have joined their peers at Columbia University and The City College of New York on the BELT project. BELT, for Biofuel Engine Longevity Test, has brought the three New York City institutions together to examine the long-term effects of running a diesel engine on biofuels. Each school is researching a Lister diesel engine running for 500 hours on vegetable oil. Dr. Pejman Akbari, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, is serving as a mentor to the Manhattan College students involved in the project. Read.

 

College To Host 27th Annual Engineering Awareness Program

Manhattan College's Engineering Awareness Program, which aims to introduce high school students to potential careers in the various fields of engineering, will be held for the 27th straight year in July. The program is designed for minority and female high school students in science, engineering and SAT preparation at no cost to them. It is meant to introduce students to a wide range of engineering-related career options with some emphasis on civil engineering. School of Education's Graduate Division Announces New Master's Program in Mental Health Counseling

Manhattan College's graduate school of education has launched a new Master of Science program in mental health counseling. The primary objective of the program is to train practitioners in assessment and intervention in settings such as mental health centers, hospitals, community agencies and private practice.
