William Baker To Speak at 2008 Commencement

William F. Baker, Ph.D., chief executive officer of Educational Broadcasting Corporation (EBC), will deliver the keynote address at Manhattan College's 2008 Commencement on Sunday, May 18. During the ceremony, Baker will receive an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters. Baker has been head of EBC since 1987. Under his leadership, the station has grown and created new programs, such as Charlie Rose, City Arts and Religion and Ethics NewsWeekly. For more information on Baker's career, click Here.

 

 

 

Manhattan College Hosts Focus the Nation Events

Jeffrey Dinowitz & Jose SerranoSome 750 members of the Manhattan College community attended the Focus the Nation events held on campus on Thursday, Jan. 31. With more than 1,500 educational institutions participating, Focus the Nation, a nationwide global warming initiative, was billed as the largest ever “teach-in” in the United States. Manhattan College hosted numerous seminars and events throughout the day, including a panel discussion with local elected officials Councilman Oliver Koppell, Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (pictured, left) and State Senator José Serrano '94 (pictured right).
