George Magovern '45 To Speak at Spring Commencement

George Magovern '45, M.D., retired chairman of the department of surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa., will deliver the keynote address at Manhattan College's 2008 Spring Commencement on Wednesday, May 21. During the ceremony, Magovern will receive an honorary Doctor of Science. Magovern did his surgical residency at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York and at New York Medial Center (Downstate), followed by his residency in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at George Washington University. Voices from Darfur comes to Manhattan College

Voices from DarfurRefugees from Sudan's western region of Darfur will tell their stories as Manhattan College hosts Voices from Darfur, a national speaking tour sponsored by the Save Darfur Coalition. The event will be held on Tuesday, April 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of De La Sale and His Brothers. It is free and open to the public. Voices from Darfur features a short documentary film followed by personal accounts of the genocide from survivors. Read.
