LEAP Program Comes to Manhattan College

Manhattan College always has been committed to educating the underserved, those who might not have had the opportunity to attend college because of financial reasons. But now, the College is helping to prepare another group of underserved students achieve their goals of a degree. Due to popular demand, the Liberal Ed ucation for Arts Professionals (LEAP) started a New York extension in cooperation with Manhattan College. Read.

 

Veggie Car Runs Coast to Coast

A 3,200-mile trip, $14,000, a vintage technology resurrected as trendy and one ambitious engineer recently fueled the buzz around Manhattan College. The big question on everyone's mind, including the engineer, Eric Spargimino '06, was: Would he make it? “It” refers to his cross-country trip to California in a 1974, biodiesel-run Mercedes, known around campus as the veggie car. His destination was the Water Environment Federation's annual conference. Read.

 

College To Host 27th Annual Engineering Awareness Program

Manhattan College's Engineering Awareness Program, which aims to introduce high school students to potential careers in the various fields of engineering, with an emphasis on civil engineering, will be held for the 27th straight year in July. The program is designed for minority and female high school students in science, engineering and SAT preparation at no cost to them. Student Recycling Project Aims for Green Campus

Some environmentally minded students gave the Manhattan College campus community something to think about during winter break. This past December, several students from an Environmental Politics class taught by Dr. Pamela Chasek, associate professor of government and director of the international studies program, presented an instructive discussion on recycling that included research and recommendations from a semester-long project.
