In Memoriam

Saltarelli

The Rev. Michael Saltarelli ’75, former bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, Del., passed away on Oct. 8. He was 77. Saltarelli served as bishop of the diocese, which includes Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore, until last year. Born in Jersey City, N.J., he studied at Seton Hall University and Immaculate Conception Seminary and received a master’s degree in religious studies from Manhattan. Saltarelli presided over an era of expansion and growth in the Diocese of Wilmington. A three-year capital campaign Bringing the Vision to Life addressed the needs of a growing diocesan family of nearly 200,000 to build, renovate and expand churches, schools and other facilities.
