Manhattan Launching Learning and Living Community for Class of 2015

Starting in fall 2011, Manhattan College will launch the College’s first learning and living program, The Arches, to assist approximately 100 first-year students in their academic and social transition to college life. The Arches will offer students the opportunity to reside together, attend two classes in the same residence hall and participate in service-learning experiences and cultural events.

The program evolved as a new way to expand a student’s four-year experience by increasing student interaction, academic and social engagement. The Arches facilitates student growth by fostering a community where students are encouraged to participate in such activities as team building, attending presentations by guest speakers, collaborating on assignments and other features.
