Manhattan Students Volunteer in New Orleans During Winter Break

From Jan. 16 - 23, a group of 13 volunteers from Manhattan College’s Lasallian Outreach Volunteer Experience
(L. O. V. E.) traveled to New Orleans and worked with Operation Helping Hands to rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Rooted in the Lasallian tradition of helping others, L.O.V.E. is a service program within the College community that strives to provide students with the opportunity to participate in community service around the world.

Throughout the week, the group worked on two specific houses from painting to laying hardwood flooring. The group from Manhattan included: Russell Stevens ’06, admissions and financial aid counselor and L. O. V. E. moderator; Erin Leroy ’11 and a L. O. V. E. student leader; Joseph Pokorny ’13; Alice Butler ’13; Steven Ward ’11; Janine Paliotta ’12; Samantha White ’13; Brittany Lynn Otis ’14; Maxwell Lyons ’13; Thomas Elbrecht ’13; Michael Norton ’11; Tegan Nelson ’14; and Claire O’Connell ’13.
