It's Not Too Late to Join Us! Komen NYC Race for the Cure

This Sunday, Sept. 13, members from the Manhattan College team of alumni, students, staff, faculty and friends will run or walk in the Komen NYC Race for the Cure in Central Park. Register Here. Once you create your log-in information, click on “join a team” and search Manhattan College. We are meeting in the Alumni Office on campus,100 Memorial Hall, First Floor, at 8:00 am for distribution of team shirts before taking the #1 train to 78th & Broadway to walk over to Central Park. Go Team Jaspers!

 

Alumni Men’s Retreat

This year is the 18th anniversary of the annual reality retreat at the Passionist Spiritual Center (5801 Palisade Ave., Riverdale, N.Y.), which will be held Sept. 25-27. The retreat spans 36 hours from 6:00 p.m. on Friday until noon on Sunday. The founding purpose of these retreats is to bring together alumni and friends of the College for an extended period to listen to gifted speakers and hear presentations based on a theme. Catholic Charities Networking Mixer

The Catholic Charities Junior Board is hosting a networking event on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Sutton Place, 2nd Floor (Second Ave. and 54th St.) from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Recent graduates of Manhattan College are invited to attend the event. The Junior Board is a group of young professionals committed to service in New York City. They organize volunteer activities throughout the year, such as tutoring, mentoring, feeding the underprivileged, and more.

 

Jaspers Night at McFadden’s

On Thursday, Sept. 24, Jaspers will gather simultaneously at McFadden’s bars in six locations to network, reconnect and enjoy an evening of great company. Participating locations include Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Washington, D.C. Sign up Here.

 

Alumni Volunteers Needed for Reunion Class Committees

Reunion Weekend 2010 will be held June 4-6. Manhattan College welcomes home our alumni who return to campus to celebrate the 141st Alumni Reunion Weekend. Classes ending in either a 5 or 0 will have special receptions. Basketball Season Preview

The alumni relations office invites you to come and greet Manhattan College’s men’s and women’s coaches and hear about the upcoming 2009-10 season on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Alumni Room of O’Malley Library. St. Thomas More Law Society Reception

The St. Thomas More Law Society will be holding a reception for alumni to interact with students interested in pursuing a career in law on Monday, October 19, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The free event will be held in the Alumni Room of the O’Malley Library.  Please R.S.V.P. by phone to (718) 862-7431 or e-mail alumni@manhattan.edu.

 

Jaspers Helping Jaspers

In anticipation of the Oct. 21 career fair in Draddy Gymnasium from 12:00-5:00 p.m., we ask that all alumni in a position to represent their company contact the alumni relations office at alumni@manhattan.edu or (718) 862-7431. We also encourage alumni to list openings and view job postings through our affiliate JasperLink. The career fair serves not only as a chance to meet with potential employers but also as a terrific networking opportunity to reconnect with other Manhattan College alumni. As part of the effort, please join the LinkedIn group - The Manhattan College Career Development Alumni Networking Group. This group is a network of Manhattan College alumni job seekers and employers. Alumni are encouraged to join to help us expand our network and stay connected. This is a place to share knowledge and get information whether you are beginning your job search or transitioning to a new career. If you have opportunities within your business or corporation and are in need of qualified individuals you can post a job, or contact individuals directly. Let’s make this group a success! 

 

Open House Brunch for Prospective Students

Manhattan College's 2009 open house is one of many events celebrating the inauguration of Brennan O'Donnell, Ph.D. Alumni are welcome to bring college-bound high school and transfer students to a complimentary brunch hosted by our alumni society on Sunday, Oct. 25. Mass will precede the event at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of De La Salle and His Brothers and brunch will be in Dante’s Den (Thomas Hall) at 11:00 a.m. Advance reservations are appreciated.. Please e-mail alumni@manhattan.edu or call (718) 862-7431 to reserve your space (please include names of all guests attending). The open house is an opportunity for prospective students to visit campus and meet representatives from all areas of the College. We look forward to seeing you.

 

Hold the Date! New York City Club Reception

Brennan O’Donnell, Ph.D., president of Manhattan College, will join alumni at the fall networking reception of the New York City Club on Thursday, Nov. 19 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Hosted by New York Life, the event is $50 per person and includes cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Registration is required by Wednesday, Nov. 11 (security mandates that all guests be preregistered). More information about this event is available Here.
