Manhattan College Economics Professor Authors
New Book on America’s Credit Crisis

Dr. Charles Geisst, who holds the Charles A. Gargano Chair in Global Economics at Manhattan College, is the author of the new book Collateral Damaged: The Marketing of Consumer Debt to America, which examines the policy implications of the credit crisis and explains how the United States can fix the issue. Geisst has written 18 books on finance and economics, many of which have appeared on the Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek and New York Times best-seller lists. He is a frequent guest on radio and television talk shows, valued for his opinions on finance and business.

 

Faculty and Staff Accomplishments

Dr. Anirban De, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, is currently a visiting faculty scholar in the school of civil engineering at the University of Sydney, Australia, during his sabbatical leave from Manhattan College. He participates in collaborative research, curriculum development and lecturing in environmental geotechnics. Read.

Dr. Adam Koehler, assistant professor of English, is the co-editor of Avery, a journal of fiction, which will be presented at the Brooklyn Book Festival on Sunday, Sept. 13. The festival is a free public event presenting an array of literary stars and emerging authors. For more information, click Here.

Dr. Pamela Chasek, associate professor of government and director of the international studies program, was named by the National Women’s History Project as one of the honorees for 2009’s National Women’s History Month in March. She was recognized in part for 22 years of passionate commitment, working to save the planet in her writing and in her work planning a climate change awareness campaign for the National Wildlife Foundation in the 1980s.

Congratulations to George Freije (English) and John Wasacz (chemistry), who celebrate their 40-year anniversaries with Manhattan College in September.
