Faculty and Staff Accomplishments

Patricia Sheridan, J.D., assistant professor of business law, presented “The Effect of Tax Apportionment Clauses” at the annual conference of the Mid-Atlantic Academy of Legal Studies in Business in Philadelphia, Pa., on March 19-20, 2010. The article originally appeared in the summer 2009 issue of the Westchester Bar Journal and was recently reprinted in the summer 2010 issue of the Trust and Estates Law Section Newsletter published by the Trusts and Estates law section of the New York State Bar Association. Sheridan also presented “Broken Vows — Emotional Distress Damages for Breach of Wedding-Related Contracts” at the annual conference of the North East Academy of Legal Studies in Business in Ithaca, N.Y., on April 30-May 2, 2010.

Shawn Ladda, Ed.M. and Ed.D., physical education and human performance professor at Manhattan College and president of the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport (NAGWS), appeared on MSNBC’sThe Dylan Ratigan Show on July 22. Ladda was invited to appear on the show to represent NAGWS and comment on the Quinnipiac University ruling that the university was in violation of Title IX after cutting women’s volleyball and two men’s sports teams and making cheerleading a varsity sport. Scott Lowe, Ph.D., associate professor of engineering, was influential in Manhattan College receiving approval for the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) grant to support the installation of a modular green roof for the New York Hospital Queens in Flushing, N.Y.

 

Welcome New Employees

Manhattan College welcomed several new employees this summer including: William Clyde, Ph.D., executive vice president and provost of Manhattan College, and Richard Satterlee, Ph.D., vice president for student life. Both began their new positions on July 1.
