Manhattan Study Abroad Student Featured as “Active Adventurer”Jessica Scarfuto, a Manhattan College senior and former Australian study abroad student, was recently recognized as an “Active Adventurer” on AustraLearn’s (a division of GlobaLinks Learning Abroad) website. AustraLearn honors students that take part in out- of-the-ordinary activities to enhance study abroad experiences, and Scarfuto defined just that after attending the Australia University Games (AUGs) or Unigames in the Gold Coast. AUGs is a week-long national sporting event that occurs every year involving more than 7,000 athletes from 44 universities throughout Australia and New Zealand. Scarfuto was able to immerse herself in the culture and learn teamwork from the Aussies firsthand by joining the University of New South Wales women’s soccer team and playing in the games.
